Beginning October 28, 2026, the incoming medical cohort—comprising 52 nurses, 2 laboratory technicians, 2 sonographers, and 1 physician—will be assigned to health centers and hospitals islandwide. Their duties will cover community nursing, mental health services, and specialized departments at the General Hospital in St. George’s, Princess Alice Hospital in St. Andrew, and Princess Royal Hospital in Carriacou.
An official welcome ceremony was held on Friday morning at the True Blue Bay Resort, bringing together key leaders from both nations, including:
Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada
Hon. Joseph Andall, Minister of Foreign Affairs
Hon. Philip Telesford, Minister of Health
Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo-Agyekum, Ghana’s Minister of Labour, Employment, and Job Creation
Starting Tuesday, the 57 health professionals will participate in a one-week orientation program tailored to local clinical procedures before officially commencing their duties on October 28. The bilateral deployment marks a major milestone in strengthening South-South cooperation, healthcare delivery, and capacity building across the Spice Isle.
