St. Andrew’s South-East: Why You Must Vote David Andrew
St. Andrew’s South-East deserves a representative who understands the value of education, knows how to turn plans into progress, and is ready to work for every community. David Andrew brings extensive experience in education, a proven record of public service, and the opportunity to carry the needs of this constituency directly into government.
Before serving as Minister for Education, Andrew spent 25 years in the field of education and served as Grenada’s Chief Education Officer. That experience matters. It means he understands the challenges that students, parents, teachers, and schools face—and recognizes how decisions made at the national level affect families right here in the villages of Telescope, Grenville, Soubise, Marquis, and the rest of St. Andrew’s South-East.
His work in education has brought practical improvements for students across Grenada. The government’s education initiatives have included laptops and e-books for Form 1 and Form 2 students, expanded scholarship opportunities, free tuition at TAMCC and NEWLO, and raising the school-leaving age to 18. These programs are designed to give young people more tools and time to prepare for their future.
St. Andrew’s South-East also stands to benefit from significant investment in local educational infrastructure. A new project for the St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School moved forward with a signed EC$26.5 million construction contract in 2025. Construction has commenced and is progressing toward completion. A modern, fully equipped school is an investment in our children, families, and the wider community.
However, a representative’s work extends far beyond a single sector or project. It requires listening to residents, raising local concerns, and advocating for the roads, services, opportunities, and support that our communities require. David Andrew’s experience as a minister gives him a direct understanding of how government operates—and the ability to advocate effectively for St. Andrew’s South-East using that knowledge.
Between 2013 and 2022, the constituency suffered from a lack of effective representation under the current Member of Parliament while her party was in government. Later in opposition, she declined to accept government-provided transportation that could have assisted hundreds of residents in the constituency. Over the period from 2013 to 2026, St. Andrew’s South-East has effectively been neglected by its parliamentary representative.
In contrast, consider what Senator Andrew has achieved while serving as Caretaker over the past four years. He has facilitated the construction and repair of numerous roads in Crochu, Café, Felix Park, Grand Bacolet, Hope, Marquis, Post Royal, Grenville, and Telescope. Through his advocacy, he secured solar lighting for several key locations, including the Soubise playing field, Hope City, Pennacool Road, and Grand Bacolet. Notably, Progress Park—arguably the most vital sporting facility outside the National Stadium—was illuminated under his watch, as was the SAASS playing field. Furthermore, residents in need received assistance with home renovations, several individuals across the constituency were provided with new homes, and indoor bathroom and toilet facilities were installed for less fortunate households to uphold their dignity where previous representation failed.
No candidate can resolve every challenge overnight. However, voters have a right to expect honesty, accessibility, and follow-through. They should expect their representative to remain present, explain ongoing developments, and continue advocate when additional work is required. These are fair expectations for David Andrew, and they represent the standard by which his leadership should be judged.
This election presents a clear choice regarding the future of St. Andrew’s South-East: who will represent its people, who will help create opportunities for its youth, and who will consistently press for investment in its communities.
As a Senator and Caretaker—even without holding the parliamentary seat in the previous election—David Andrew has demonstrated remarkable dedication to representing this constituency. That is why, on November 5th, 2026, voting for David Andrew and the National Democratic Congress represents the clear choice for the advancement of St. Andrew’s South-East.
Sincerely,
A Young Voter from St. Andrew’s South-East
