As Spicemas festivities get into full swing, the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) and child protection officials are urging parents and guardians to prioritize child safety throughout the carnival season.

Whether you are heading out to festivities or enjoying the holidays, keeping children secure requires proactive planning, clear communication, and dependable supervision.

Crucial Guidance for Parents & Guardians

  • Leave Children with Trusted Adults: Never leave children unattended at home or in the care of strangers or acquaintances. If you plan to attend fetes or parades, ensure your children are left under the active supervision of a trustworthy, capable adult.

Essential Safety Rules for Children

Parents are encouraged to sit down with their children and establish these straightforward safety rules:

  • Never Accept Gifts Without Asking: Do not accept food, drinks, toys, or gifts from anyone without asking a parent or guardian first.

  • Speak Up if Uncomfortable: If anyone makes you feel uneasy, scared, or uncomfortable for any reason, leave the situation and tell a parent, trusted adult, or uniformed police officer immediately.

  • Stay Within Sight: Never wander off into crowds or unfamiliar areas alone; always stay where your guardian can see you.
